Tararua District Council are currently recruiting for the new Tararua District Council Citizens' Panel. The final day for recruitment is this Sunday 25 March.
Do you want to let council know what you really think on big local issues?
Tararua District Council will set up a panel of 700 residents in the Tararua – so they can complete quick surveys on hot issues via email. Panel recruitment will take place on Sunday 18 and Sunday 25 March.
Peter Wimsett, Manager Strategy and District Development, "We know people have ideas on many local issues. We want an easy way of connecting to these ideas and views. We want to let the silent majority have a voice on topical issues." The questions are going to be designed to be punchy, quick, and easy to answer. However, links will be provided to extra information and detail, and also a link to Facebook discussions.
Coming out in April will be Council's Draft Long Term Plan covering the next ten years in the Tararua. In it, there will be many interesting and challenging things that will affect people?s lives every day ? from roading and footpaths, to water quality and cleaning up the Manawatu River. Mr Wimsett says, "A grassroots view of these and other subjects would be very helpful to make sure Council is moving in the right direction". Council is also going to the High Schools in Dannevirke and Pahiatua to get young people's views on the future.
